Martial Arts for self defence, fitness, confidence What is martial arts?Martial arts are systems of practices and traditions of combat and self-defense. Today, martial arts are studied for various reasons including combat skills, sport, fitness, self-defense, self-cultivation (meditation), mental discipline, character development and building self-confidence. The term originally referred to traditional East Asian arts, but has recently been applied to ancient and modern systems world-wide. A practitioner of martial arts is referred to as a martial artist. WingTsun is a chinese martial art also known as Kung FuWing Tsun or WT refers specifically to the Leung Ting martial arts System of Wing Tsun, which differs significantly from other styles of martial art. WT can only be taught in Australia with the authorisation of the Australian Escrima and Wing Tsun Organisation (AEWTO), of which Si-Fu Stefan Fischer is the Chief Instructor. Si Fu Fischer is the sole representative of the International Wing Tsun Association, Hong Kong, Chief Instructor Grandmaster Leung Ting, 11th Level and the European WT Organisation Grandmaster Prof. K.R. Kernspecht 10th Level in Australia. WT martial arts centres on unique, multi-faceted techniques which can be learned by anyone willing to concentrated and practice. Flowing movements and sudden speed combine into systematic, co-ordinated sequences and blend to form a powerful and holistic response to an attack. Systematic Wing Tsun training improves your physical and mental flexibility and heightens your perception. Wing Tsun builds on the existing potential of each student. It is not muscular strength and stamina that are required for Wing Tsun, but the willingness to let your body respond, to get to know your strengths and to put them to use. Training centers on learning a co-ordinated and healthy way of moving and heightened physical and mental perception rather than brute force or mindless conditioning. Learning a Martial Art and in particular Wing Tsun gives you a new awareness of your body and a new level of self-assurance. Intensive training gives students more confidence as they become aware of their capabilities and potential. Personal constraints become less important in day-to-day living. Wing Tsun students are no longer the "victim-type" and for this reason alone rarely get into dangerous situations. But if the need arises they possess an effective and uncompromising system of unarmed defence. The Wing Tsun practitioner absorbs the strength of the attacker, converts it into his or her own strength, reinforces it and directs it back at the attacker. An attacker’s strengths therefore immediately become weaknesses for the WT fighter to exploit – the aggressor’s every move simply making his own defeat more inevitable. |
